I hope your New Year celebrations were wonderful & that you’ll accomplish all of your goals & dreams!
Now that OUR new year is in full swing…I thought I’d start it off with my tutorial for knock-off:
VINTAGE/INDUSTRIAL STYLE NUMBERED TIN SIGNS
If you’ve been online looking @ blogs & design like I have, I’m sure you’ve seen these by the boat loads. And they’re also a boat load of $, especially if you want several. I had several ideas that I had originally thought of, but by the time I added all the $ for supplies it was still gonna be a bit pricey. So back to the drawing board for the 4th time, & here’s what I came up with.
I chose the zip code for where I’d love to live, which is obviously in New York near Central Park.
I had the craft paints & the stencils already. I had bought the stencils in different sizes from the school section @ the craft store. The stencils are something I had bought years ago, & threw in a box, never to use until now.
I bought the canvas @ Joann’s. A package of 3 was originally $7.99, but I used my iphone app coupons for extra discounts. I think I ended up paying three dollars & some change. I bought two packs. I got the 11×14 size.
I wanted the canvas to look old & aged {go figure}. I used a sponge brush slightly swiping the canvas leaving the edges unpainted.
I have a canvas of the New York skyline which was my inspiration for the room. I pulled my favorite colors out of the art.
I apologize, but I don’t have a picture of the traced stencil.
I watered down Raw Umber craft paint & then ragged over the canvas’. If you’d like them heavily distressed, just rub harder in those areas & the paint will lift off.

Too cute. You’ll have to show us pics of how your place is coming together. I like your new look. Is it fun to turn in a totally different direction?
